Providing you with a comfortable space to talk to a professor

I get it. Visiting your professors during office hours can be nerve racking. But not here.

When seeking advice, college students must often choose between well intentioned but inexperienced academic advisors and experienced but disinterested professors. And it is not uncommon for students to feel they cannot be honest with their advisors and professors out of fear that their questions might disappoint them or send the wrong signals.

My goal is to provide you with a helpful, positive mentorship experience where you feel valued and listened to. I will do everything I can to provide an encouraging and comfortable space for your personalized advising.

Advice from an experienced professor.

I have been a professor of political science at a Carnegie R1 research institution since 2005.

During that time, I have served in a variety of roles, including: director of graduate, internship, and honors programs; member and chair of my university’s Athletic Council; advisor to student-led clubs and organizations; member and chair of graduate student comprehensive exam, Master’s thesis, and dissertation committees; advisor for undergraduate honors students and independent studies; and member of prestigious scholarship and award committees such as the Truman Scholarship and Fred Harris Congressional Internship. I am also an award winning instructor and scholar of American politics.

How does it work?
